Have a jolly holiday in London this Christmas!
If you want to take the strain out of your festivities this year and enjoy the sights and sounds of London at Christmas without breaking the bank, the Lime Tree is the perfect base to stay. With the magical lights of Belgravia twinkling all around and many of the finest winter attractions within easy walking distance, we’ve got the best of the city right on our doorstep.
As always, we strongly recommend researching and planning well in advance for your visit and in particular to make plans for Christmas Day itself since most shops and restaurants will be closed.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market
Part of the Southbank Winter Festival, this perennially popular market on the banks of the Thames offers plenty of festive cheer and seasonal treats for all ages. Browse the traditional wooden chalets for a wide range of interesting gifts or just soak up the atmosphere while also soaking up a cup of hot mulled wine. (10 November – 04 January)
Ice skating at Somerset House
The splendid 18th-century courtyard of Somerset House makes an impressive backdrop for one of the most popular ice rinks in town. Skating around under the 40-foot Christmas tree with a hot toddy to keep out seasonal chills is one of London's most appealing winter rituals. (15 November - 14 January, advance booking essential)
Gift shopping at Fortnum & Mason
Retail therapy doesn’t get much more festive than at 300 year-old Fortnums. This famously elegant department store becomes a winter wonderland equipped with all manner of lavish decorations while retaining the reassuringly traditional shopping values so cherished by its devotees. If you are a foodie you will just love the incredible array of biscuits, choccies and luxury hampers, all impeccably presented in appropriately classy packaging.
